eFARM Academy makes it to the StudyPH CHED ICONS stage

As one of the grantees of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through the International Affairs Staff (IAS), the eFARM (engaging Food and Agriculture Resources Management) Academy was presented during the Study in the Philippines International Champions Of Nation-building and Sustainability (StudyPH ICONS) Edutourism Conference held on August 31 to September 1, 2022, in Iloilo City.

Dr. Celyrah B. Castillo, project leader for eFARM KITCHEN, shared and discussed the accomplishments of the program likewise, the ways forward, and the plans of the eFARM Academy. Joining her in the said conference and networking were Asst. Prof. Maria Adrielle S. Estigoy and Mr. Seth Vincent M. Valdez, project leader and project staff, respectively of eFARM GROW.

The event was graced by Atty. Lily Freida C. Macabangun-Milla, OIC Deputy Executive Director and Director of IAS, wherein she also gave an overview of the StudyPH: CHED’s education tourism initiative. Other speakers include Ms. Marissa Masangkay, Department of Tourism’s senior tourism operations officer, Prof. Maria Criselda Badilla, UP Institute of Asian Tourism, Prof. Raymundo Rovillos, co-chairperson for Baguio Creative City and former UP chancellor, Prof. Fernando Zialcita, ADMU professor emeritus, Prof. Eddie Nuque, De La Salle University, Prof. Jaime Veneracion, Philippine History and the Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office Bulacan, Ms. Susan Santos-de Cardenas, Society for Sustainable Tourism and Development Inc., and Ms. Jing Castañeda, former ABS-CBN host.

Other CHED-grantee presenters were from Tarlac Agricultural University, Bulacan State University, and Capiz State University. While the event was attended by Program/ project leaders from the different higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines.

The StudyPH ICONS was organized by CHED-IAS to understand the importance of education and tourism in the internationalization of the higher education sector.
