eFARM Academy        September 19, 2022

The eFARM Academy continues its service to the public with another two MOAs signed with the local government unit and a non-government organization. Having LGU Luisiana, Laguna as its other stakeholders resulted from the visit of Mr. Marlong Vendivel, LGU Technical Consultant, last August 8, 2022. Likewise, the partnership with Youmanitarian International began through the CLSU UC SEARCA International Summer Short-term Program 2022, which they were participating in.

Luisiana is basically an agricultural town. In the population center, there are only a few commercial establishments that cater to the basic needs of the people. Their main sources of income are mainly focused on agriculture, such as copra, pandan, palay, bamboo, and bunliw, with a light industry base and a service-sector economy. Piggery and poultry farming are also sources of additional income.

With this, eFARM Academy forged a MOA with Luisiana, Laguna to help strengthen the knowledge and practices of farmers in the LGU. The event was personally attended by Hon. Mayor Jomapher U. Alvarez, Hon. Vice Mayor Dr. Luibic Reodica Jacob, Committee on Agriculture, Chairman Counselor Junar Romulo, Council Member Eulogio Suario Jr., Municipal Agriculturist Engr. Christine Roguel, Consultant for Agriculture, Mr. Marlon Vendivel, and some farmer presidents and officers of the municipality.

“Sa aking mga kasamang magsasaka, talagang hindi po kayo magsasaka LANG. Dapat po proud tayo, MAGSASAKA TAYO.”

Hon. Mayor Alvarez also expressed his hopes for the farmers’ unending efforts and hardwork in agriculture as they greatly contribute to catering to the basic needs of the people.

On the other hand, the establishment of a relationship with the NGO is vital to eFARM Academy as it further promotes its agri-fishery technologies to the public. Youmanitarian Service Organization International Inc., or simply Youmanitarian International, aims to empower communities and transform the lives of every marginalized people through sustainable human development programs. This was attended by Mr. Clarence Luther S. Bulanadi, Senior Executive Director; Mr. Romeo B. Marbella, Jr., Executive Director for Agriculture and Rural Development Program; and Mr. Glenn V. Mariano, Executive Secretary.

“[Nakita ko] ang pangangailangan ng mga magsasaka na dapat mabigyan sila ng tamang kaalaman pagdating sa technology, sa marketing, sa processing para po mabuhay ulit ang agrikultura. At the same time, para po maencourage ang mga kabataan," said Mr. Bulanadi in his message.

As Phase I of the program ends, partnerships with LGUs, government agencies, and non-government organizations will continue to serve the purpose of eFARM Academy.
